2.4 Sheep for Slaughter

These need a consignor's declaration that they are for immediate slaughter at a specified abattoir.

2.5 Breeding or Store Sheep not Consigned to Flinders Island

2.5.1

The flock of origin must not be under any regulatory control due to any disease or condition other than Ovine Johne’s Disease.

2.5.2

Ovine Brucellosis must not be present or suspected in the flock of origin.
.

2.5.3

Sheep other than terminal crossbred lambs consigned to Tasmania other than Flinders Island must have an Assurance Based Credit (ABC) score of at least one (1) credit and be accompanied by an appropriately-completed Animal Health Statement. The ABC score and the Animal Health Statement must be in accordance with the National Approach to the Management of Ovine Johne’s Disease: Guidelines for the Implementation of Assurance-based OJD Management in Sheep that apply at the time of export.

2.5.4

Terminal cross-bred lambs, identified with a terminal ‘T’ symbol on a National Livestock Identification Scheme (Sheep) ear tag, have no minimum ABC score requirement. An appropriately-completed Animal Health Statement must accompany the shipment.

2.5.5

The sheep must be healthy.
.

2.5.6

Sheep that are infected, or suspected of being infected, with Ovine Johne’s Disease may be imported provided that all other conditions are met.

2.5.7

A person authorised by the Chief Veterinary Officer of the exporting State or Territory must certify within 7 days of export that all the above conditions have been met.

2.5.8

Shearing exemptions are still needed for sheep with more than 25 mm wool.

2.6 Sheep for Flinders Island

Sheep Health Statement


2.6.1

2.7 Pigs for Slaughter

The consignor must declare that the pigs are intended for immediate slaughter at a specified abattoir.

2.8 Breeding Pigs from Northern Australia

2.8.1

This applies to pigs from Queensland, Northern Territory, and Western Australia north of the Tropic of Capricorn.
.

2.8.2

A Stock Inspector or Government Veterinary Officer from the exporting State or Territory must certify within 7 days of export that the pigs are healthy and are:

(a)

From a herd accredited as free of Brucella suis according to a scheme approved by the Chief Veterinary Officer of the exporting State or Territory; or

(b)

From a herd in which all boars and breeding sows have been tested for Brucella suis by the Complement Fixation Test or Rose Bengal Test with negative results within 30 days of shipment;

(c)

Tested for Brucella suis by the Complement Fixation Test or Rose Bengal Test with negative results within 30 days of shipment.

2.9 Breeding Pigs from Southern Australia

2.9.1

A Stock Inspector or Government Veterinary Officer from the exporting State or Territory must certify within 7 days of export that the pigs:

(a)

Were inspected and found to be healthy; and

(b)

Have never been in Queensland, Northern Territory, or Western Australia north of the Tropic of Capricorn.

2.10 South American Camelids

There are no certification requirements. The exporter should be encouraged to make a Johne's Disease vendor declaration. A shearing exemption is needed if the fleece is more than 25 mm long.

2.11 Camels

2.11

A veterinary Officer or Stock Inspector from the exporting State or Territory must certify within 7 days of export that:

(a)

The camels are from properties:



(i)

On which bovine tuberculosis has not been diagnosed or suspected during the previous 8 years; and

(ii)

Which have been free from evidence of Johne's disease during the 5 years immediately before shipment;

(iii)

That are not under any regulatory control due to disease or any other condition;

(b)

The camels are healthy.
